» Rungus Longhouse
Tour Code: EABKI 08 Duration: Fullday Rungus longhouses are located in the northern part of Sabah. The drive from Kota Kinabalu takes about 3 hours passing through mountains, valleys, oil palm plantation and jungles. The Rungus tribe is a sub-group from the DusunKadazan. The Rungus is one of the few ethnic tribes that maintain the old way of living in longhouses and spiritual beliefs. The longhouses are built on stilts and comprise several quarters or known as Valai in the local language. Each valai is made up of areas for sitting, dining, sleeping, with an attic and is occupied by a family. The Rungus are well known for their beads and needle work. Their hand made bead products of ornament such as necklaces, bracelets and many more are very well crafted and colourful. Itinerary Meet at hotel and depart Kota Kinabalu for 1 hour drive to Kota Belud and visit to Parang Making at Kg. Siasai. Proceed to kudat for about 2 hours drive and visit to Honeybee Farm at Kg. Gombizau and Gong Making at Kg. Sumangkap. Arrive Longhouse and mingle with the Rungus community at the longhouse. After lunch, return back to Kota Kinabalu and check into hotel or airport for flight departure.
